Suspect #1: Kathleen Bacus
AKA: Bullet Hole Bacus

Record:
Kathleen Bacus's unconventional path to publication can certainly be described as the "road less traveled." A pioneer for women in law enforcement, she was one of the first female state troopers in Iowa, and learned two very valuable lessons that have served her well in her pursuit of a professional writing career: never give up and never stop laughing. Kathleen began writing when she was homebound with four children under the age of three, including a set of triplets. She says, "Writing was my way of getting away from it all - without ever leaving the house!" Kathleen is a Romantic Times American Title Contest finalist, a 2005 Golden Heart finalist, and an active member of writing chapters and organizations too numerous to name. Hard at work on her next book, Kathleen and her children make their home in central Iowa.

Suspect #3: Jana DeLeon
AKA: Deadly DeLeon

Record:
Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. Her family owned a camp located on a bayou just off the Gulf of Mexico - you could only get there by boat. The most important feature was the rope hammock hanging in the shade on a huge deck that stretched out over the water. Jana and her brother spent thousands of hours combing the bayous in a flat-bottom aluminum boat, studying the natural habitat of many birds, nutria and alligators. She would like you to know that no animals were injured during these "studies," but they kept makers of peroxide in business. Jana now resides in Dallas, Texas, with her three spoiled dogs and three spoiled cats.

Suspect #4: Gemma Halliday
AKA: Trigger Happy Halliday

In her previous life, Gemma worked in such diverse jobs as a film and television actress, a teddy bear importer, a department store administrator, a preschool teacher, a temporary tattoo artist, and a 900 number psychic. All of which have given her excellent fodder for future characters. Gemma's first book was published in 2006, and since then she has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Reader's Choice award and two RITA nominations. Gemma now makes her home in the San Francisco Bay area, where she is hard at work on her next book.

Suspect #5: Leslie Langtry
AKA: The Assassin

Record:
Leslie Langtry grew up in the small town of Dewitt, Iowa, where her teachers wrote, "Leslie spends too much time daydreaming in class" on her report cards and kids wrote, "You are funny and really weird" in her yearbooks. For some idiotic reason, Leslie didn't fulfill her dream of becoming a published author until much later. Instead, she lived and worked in Lynchburg, Virginia; Springfield, Illinois; Delmar/Clinton, Iowa; and Rock Island, Illinois. Now she lives in the Quad Cities with her family. She divides her time between writing, her most excellent critique group and her perfectly-behaved Girl Scout troop. Leslie is currently working on her next book.
